Welcome to the West Alabama Fiber Guild Newsletter

Happy Fall!

Next meeting:  Sunday, November 15, 2015, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Location: 1000 28th Avenue, Tuscaloosa
Topic:  Spinning Sunday/Swap Day
Bring your surplus, "why did I buy this", or "I'll never use this" fibers, yarns, and tools to swap.
Generally, Spinning Sunday is for working on projects, sharing tips and ideas, and helping each other.  Also, bring any finished items that you would like to share.  We love to see them!

Last meeting:  November 1, 2015
Topic:  Recycling/Reclaimed Fibers
Carol talked about several ways that she re-purposes things she has made after they have served their original purpose -- such as turning the good parts of worn out socks into coasters, woven garments into pillow covers, and how to take apart a purchased sweater to re-use the yarn.

News:

Monica Moore announced that the guild earned $245.16 at Kentuck this year. This means that we had over $2000 in sales, as the guild portion was 10%.

Happy Anniversary!
Carol informed us that the guild is now 20 years old!  The West Alabama Fiber Guild was established in Carol's living room in 1995.

Other Tidbits:

Jennifer sent me a note that the guild's Ashford traditional wheel (photo below) with Lazy Kate and three bobbins needs a new home.  She recently got her own wheel and doesn't have room for both. She'll bring the guild wheel to the next meeting.
If you are interested, please contact Jennifer.

'Til next time,

-Christine
